Considering their "age" Griffith's short silents starring Lillian Gish should be in public domain. All the organisations and museums should be aware of above mentioned fact. This would be a cultural plus, a gift for those not so fortunate, who cannot afford 800 US dollars trip to MoMa, NY Public Library or Amon Carter Museum. A lot of early silents are being shown only by request in private sessions. With a small investment from early movie stars foundations and film producers like MGM, WB, Paramount, United Artists this objective can be achieved.
Many of the silents should be restored as well, and placed on specialized websites, even if a purchase will be required in order to cover the restoration cost. The Enemy, Annie Laurie, The Greatest Thing in Life, Cptain Macklin, Souls Triumphant (a very long list) can be subjects of restoration (even if footage/reels are missing).
Kindly send your message or hit "like" if you consider that a public petition should be presented to US Cultural Authorithy, so all early short silents starring Lillian Gish (and many other movie stars) should be in public domain.
